CHRISTIANITY, EXPLAINED

What Do Christians

Actually Believe?

The Gospel

Christianity begins with who God is, what went wrong between us and Him, and what Jesus did to make a way back. This is the Gospel, the good news at the heart of the Christian faith.

God built something beautiful.

God built something beautiful. A world full of life, purpose, and relationship — and He put us right in the middle of it. But something went wrong.

Adam and Eve believed a lie — Satan's lie — and the moment they did, it was like someone opened a jar of toxic gas. The poison spread to everything. To all of us.

That's not just a Bible story.

Look around.
You can see it.

Look around. You can see it.

But here's what a lot of people get wrong about God.

They picture Him standing at the top of a cliff, pushing people over. Like He's the problem. Like He's the reason things are broken.

The truth is the exact opposite. He sent Jesus to stand at the top of that cliff — arms out — to keep people from jumping.

That's not the posture of a God who doesn't care. That's the posture of a God who loves you more than you know.

That's not the posture of a God who doesn't care.
That's the posture of a God who loves you more than you know.

So why does life still feel broken?

Because He gave us a choice. And a lot of us — most of us — choose wrong. I did.

Why it matters

Jesus Changes Everything.

Following Jesus isn't just about getting to heaven someday — although that matters more than anything else I could say on this page. It's also about having a reason to get up tomorrow. A purpose that doesn't evaporate when life gets hard.

When I committed my life to following Jesus, everything changed. Not just for me — for my wife, for my kids. He rewired our whole family.

I'm not saying life got easy.
I'm saying it got meaningful.

So What Does It Actually Take?

Everyone is starting from a different place. Some of you have never opened a Bible. Some of you grew up in church and walked away. Some of you, like me, spent years carrying anger and resentment toward the church you grew up in. I get it. But somewhere along the way I realized — my issue was never really with Jesus. It was with people. And people are imperfect everywhere, including in church. So wherever you're starting from, here's what I know to be true.

Believe

First, you have to believe. Not just know — believe. There's a difference, and it matters.

You have to believe that Jesus is the Son of God. That He died for your sins — not someone else's, yours. And that He rose from the grave, defeating death itself. That last part is everything. If Jesus stayed dead, none of this means anything.

But here's the thing — even the devil believes Jesus is real. So belief alone isn't enough.

Commit

You have to commit.
You have to turn away from the life you've been living and turn toward Him.

Not perfectly — nobody does this perfectly. But genuinely. With your whole heart, pointed in His direction, pursuing Him day after day.

If you do that — if you walk away from the old life and walk into a life with Jesus — your life will change. I've seen it happen. I've lived it. You won't regret it. Not for a single day.

Ready to Take a Step?

You don't have to figure this out alone. Find a church. Find people who are on the same road. That's actually why this site exists.

Want to Go Deeper? Here's Where It Comes From.

If you have a Bible, grab it and look these up. If you don't, no worries — download the YouVersion Bible app on your phone, or simply Google the verse. I recommend the NLT version. For example, type “Genesis 1:1 NLT” into Google and it will come right up.
